Garlic, like onions, are used as the basis of many dishes, as it goes well with many other ingredients, such as cheese and butter, and adds a rich fragrance to food.

Whether used chopped or raw, it has a pungent and sharp taste.  When in oil form, it can aid in the soothing of aching muscles.  There is even the possibility of making tea from garlic.  It doesn’t matter how you use it; you can be assured that Garlic offers significant benefits.

Boosts immunity

According to one study involving 41,000 women aged 55 to 69, routinely consuming garlic, fruits and vegetables proved to have a 35% lower colon cancer risk.  You are also less likely to fall victim to airborne diseases, such as a common cold.

Works as an anti-inflammatory

Garlic oil works well as an anti-inflammatory agent.  If you suffer from aching and inflamed joints or muscles, you can rub them garlic oil.  The Arthritis Foundation even acclaims it to help avert cartilage damage from arthritis.

Improves heart health

Eating garlic also has a positive effect on your arteries and blood pressures.  Red blood cells turn the sulfur in garlic into hydrogen sulfide has, which in turn expands out blood vessels and makes it easier to control blood pressure.

Clears up skin

Garlic has antibacterial properties and antioxidants that have the ability to clear up your skin by eliminating acne-causing bacteria. One study shows rubbing raw garlic over pimples can clear them away.

You should be aware, however, that garlic could cause a burning feeling on your skin.

Protects your food

Those same antibacterial assets in fresh garlic can eliminate the bacteria that lead to food poisoning, including salmonella and E.coli. It is not wise to use garlic as a substitute for proper food sanitation and food handling, though.

Treats athlete’s foot

Garlic also helps your body fight fungus. If you have athlete’s foot, you can soak your feet in garlic water or rub raw garlic on your feet to dose the fungus.

Despite garlic’s many health benefits, do not add too much to your diet too quickly. Overdoing it can cause uneasiness, including an upset stomach, bloating, diarrhea, body odor and bad breath.
